Se utiliza para hablar de cosas imposibles o irreales ya que habla de qué hubiera ocurrido en el pasado si se hubiese cumplido una condición.
Estructura
Afirmativa: If + Sj + Past Perfect (Had + Participio)_________, Sj + Would + Have + Participio
Ejemplo: If I had listened more, I would have understood the lesson.
Negativa: If + Sj + Hadn´t + Participio ________ Sj + Wouldn´t + Have +Participio
Ejemplo: If I hadn´t eaten three chessburgers, I wouldn´t have had a stomach ache.
Interrogativa: If + Sj + Had + Participio ____________, Would + Sj + Have + Participio?
Ejemplo: If John had invited you to the party, would you have gone?
¿Cómo se forma el participio de un verbo?
En el caso de los verbos regulares, se le añade "ed" al final. En los verbos irregulares colocaríamos la tercera columna.
OJO! : Es importante recordar que la negativa se forma poniendo el not en el Had primero y después en el Would. Un error muy común es poner Haven´t en la segunda parte de la oración.
